If it worked with the same cable & mediabox before that's probably not the problem. But generally speaking you need to be real careful with SCARTs – they all have the same form factor but do not always send the same signal on pins. Depending on the device, a SCART may be stuck in one mode, or you may change it via the device config menus (ie read the mediabox manual). That's why they're usually carefully labeled "for TV" "for VCR" etc As other people noted the differences between modes occur on the colour part, so a misconfigured system will be B&W.
