Hi Richard -

Not certain where it actually logs, in ivtv, or msp3400 (for all I know, ivtv checks the version). I suggest you go into /lib/modules, do a find ./ | grep ivtv and move all the ivtv.o, ivtv.ko, ivtv.o.gz, ivtv.ko.gz, etc, elsewhere for the kernel that matches "uname -r" then run depmod and then retry. I'm about certain that the no sound issue is the classic symptom of the built-in kernel msp3400 module. I wonder if you are somehow changing the version after ivtv is going (if possible, I just expect the output to be at least by the time ivtv finishes the init section of the log)?

Hrm, I am pretty certain I am pulling in the correct version of msp3400, as I made it a point to remove the kernel version as one of my first troubleshooting steps.

Just for S&G, I removed all ivtv related modules and recompiled from the latest stable .2 release (rce, iirc) and reinstalled them (with appropriate depmods along the road), with no luck there.

If it helps any, here is the sectino of my log where the msp3400 appears.... (I left the last couple lines of the IVTV log in for context).
