First, let me say thanks to you and all for your help. I will be very basic here as in some ways I'm pretty new to linux (all self taught, with google as my friend) and could be making a dumb mistake somewhere... Later tonight I will try downgrading the firmware, but when I'd tried the card with firmware from CD, I got nothing but static, using 0.3.2j, and the 2nd tuner on the PVR-500 was locking things up. At this point, I was also having some corrupt database issues, so wiped the HD clean, fresh install of SuSE 9.2, mythtv, ivtv 0.3.2k, latest firmware, and things were working OK. At least the pvr-350 had been working pretty well with 0.3.2k, latest firmware.... In mythtv, I could record off it and the 1st tuner of the 500 at the same time. trying to watch live tv on any of the 500's tuners locks the system requiring hard reboot. This morning I upgraded to 0.3.2l, by make, make install, depmod, cd ../utils, make, make install. Can anyone please confirm that there is no make uninstall necessary when changing driver versions? (here is where I could be making a stupid mistake?) The make uninstall command fails for me, so I assume installing new one overwrites old version? At this point, the 500 still freezes the system, but even the tv-out of the 350 is looking bad. Now I'm also getting the no_black_magic error. I try cold reboot, turning off for 5 min and restart. Same problems. From here on out, all reboots are cold, waiting at least a few minutes. Just recently, I tried re-installing 0.3.2k and the no_black_magic error still shows in dmesg (hinting to me that something in driver downgrade doesn't work properly, cx25849 module not being changed?) and the tv-out of 350 is still bad... Let's start here, as if I'm doing something stupid with the driver install, further troubleshooting could be unnecessary.
