I had to install one version and install MySQL-4.1.11-1mdk then go to
the Control
Center->services and start mysqld. Entering MySQL at the prompt
brought up MySQL.
So that seems to be O.K.
Entering MythTV at the prompt now brought up a slightly different
message.
[EMAIL PROTECTED] ~]$ mythtv
Unable to connect to database!
Driver error was [1/1045]:
QMYSQL3: Unable to connect
Database error was:
Access denied for user 'mythtv'@'localhost' (using password: YES)
Did you run the mythtv mysql database construction script? I
believe you have to run
mysql -u root < database/mc.sql

You are quite right. I had forgotten reading that. It looks like the
software may
well be O.K. It's now down to configuration. There again I have doubts.
I've read
so many variations in what to add and where to add them. I'm using Mandriva
LE2005, I'm in the UK so its PAL-D which if I remember correctly means
'white' is
slightly green with a colour temperature of 6500 degrees C, I cannot recall
seeing a reference to 'D' in the ivtv or mythtv documentation etc etc.
Ignore me, I'll have to guess.<G>.
Thanks for the advice.
