I've noticed that some cards, such as ethernet cards, remain powered up
even when the computers they are in are ostensibly "off". My
understanding is that there are some pci signals that remain active on
contemporary PCs and are typically used for applications such as Wake On
LAN or Wake On Ring. The power supply continues to generate some lower
current power on some wires even when "off", feeding the PCI bus (in
addition to some other parts of the board).

Is it possible that hauppaugge cards continue to draw power from this
particular pci line (or lines) for some purpose, even after a computer
is shut off?

If so, it may be best to suggest that ivtv testers also use a
hard-power-down (PSU switch, cable remove or external power strip) in
addition to the soft-power-down most users are familiar with.

Daniel - care to repeat that test using the hard-power-off method?
