Thanks again Michael.  Believe it or not, that didn't
work either.  I finally figured out what it is. 
Jarod's guide suggests running mkinitrd, so that the
ivtv driver loads from the ram disk.  Once I ran
mkinitrd-ivtv without the --ivtvdev option, I was able
to reboot and run modprobe -r to unload ivtv.  Whew!

What's the story with the ramdisk?  Is this still the
preferred way to load the ivtv driver if you're
running X through the PVR-350's TV-out?
