Apologies to the list - I hit 'respond' while reading the digest. I hope this appears in the correct thread.

Hello Hans,

Thanks for the work on this problem!

I am going to ask some questions that will probably seem pretty basic, so my apologies in advance. Still pretty new to Linux...

First, the machine this is on is running Fedora 2.6.16-1.2080_FC5.

I installed the ivtv package by using yum, and the rpm at the ATrpms site.

After reading your note, I went back there, downloaded the tar files for that same installation and had a look at the tveeprom file you mentioned and found that 'tuner absent' line you were talking about.

Then I downloaded the subversion 0.4 you mentioned, and I can see where you have added the support for this tuner.

But, when I was reading some info on the subversion, it says it's not for the later version of Fedora I have.

Now, for the 'newbie' questions!

Basically, how to go about patching the file in the ivtv-0.6 so I can use it with the version of Fedora I'm on. Can I just download the rpm and modify the tveeprom file before installing it? Or is there more to it than that?

I really appreciate your help. I hope to learn enough that one day I can contribute something.

Ted.

I've added support to ivtv-0.4 in subversion (using tuner 50). For
ivtv-0.6 this will only work if you patch tveeprom.c from the kernel to
use TUNER_TCL_2002N instead of TUNER_ABSENT for this tuner.

I'll also see that it is added to the v4l sources.
