You can use mplayer or xine
mplayer /dev/video0
xine fifo://dev/video0

But you can't change channels from these programs, you have to use
ivtv-tune from the command line.

If you want to change channels with your remote, you can use ivtv-tune
and irexec (comes with lirc). Edit your .lircrc configuration file as
shown in the example below and run irexec in the background.

.lircrc:

begin
  remote = your_remote
  button = 1
  prog = irexec
  config = ivtv-tune --frequency=196.25
end

begin
  remote = your_remote
  button = 2
  prog = irexec
  config = ivtv-tune --frequency=252.25
end
