firmware_helper is part of the udev scripts, not ivtv. You might want to update your udev package. I installed firmware-helper from udev-092 on my system and it works fine. > > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: ivtv: ==================== START > INIT IVTV ==================== > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: ivtv: version 0.6.2 (development > snapshot compiled on Mon May 22 01:21:25 2006) loading > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: ivtv: Linux version: > 2.6.16-1.2122_FC5SMP gcc-4.1 > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: ivtv: In case of problems please > include the debug info between > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: ivtv: the START INIT IVTV and END > INIT IVTV lines, along with > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: ivtv: any module options, when > mailing the ivtv-users mailinglist. > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: ivtv0: Autodetected Hauppauge WinTV > PVR-150 card (cx23416 based) > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:01:07.0[A] > -> Link [APC1] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 22 > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: tuner 6-0061: chip found @ 0xc2 > (ivtv i2c driver #0) > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: cx25840 6-0044: cx25843-23 found @ > 0x88 (ivtv i2c driver #0) > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost firmware_helper[4264]: Loading of > /lib/firmware/v4l-cx25840.fw for i2c_adapter driver failed: No such > file or directory > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: cx25840 6-0044: unable to open > firmware v4l-cx25840.fw Are you sure the file v4l-cx25840.fw is in /lib/firmware? > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: wm8775 6-001b: chip found @ 0x36 > (ivtv i2c driver #0) > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: tveeprom 6-0050: Hauppauge model > 26052, rev C185, serial# 2882909 > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: tveeprom 6-0050: tuner model is TCL > 2002N 6A (idx 85, type 50) > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: tveeprom 6-0050: TV standards > NTSC(M) (eeprom 0x08) > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: tveeprom 6-0050: audio processor is > CX25843 (idx 37) > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: tveeprom 6-0050: decoder processor > is CX25843 (idx 30) > Jun 11 08:20:50 localhost kernel: tveeprom 6-0050: has no radio, has > IR remote > Jun 11 08:20:51 localhost kernel: ivtv0: loaded v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw > firmware (262144 bytes) > Jun 11 08:20:51 localhost firmware_helper[4286]: Loading of > /lib/firmware/v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw for ivtv driver failed: No such file > or directory Even though firmware_helper complains the driver still loads v4l-cx2341x-enc.fw. Use the fw from here: http://dl.ivtvdriver.org/ivtv/firmware/firmware.tar.gz There really is something weird about your udev & firmware setup.
