I just wanted to add some info to this thread. Regarding the below  
statement from Hans:

I tried this on my kernel (2.6.16, ivtv v0.6.3) and it did improve the  
picture quite a bit, but it's still unwatchable. Before I'd say I had  
about 90% static on the picture, but perfect sound. Now it's maybe 25%  
static and still perfect sound. Huge improvement, but still not good  
enough to watch.

I may subject this crummy card to a 'hammer test' in my garage before  
long, but if any other patches, kernel tweaks, etc. pop up before I loose  
my patience on it, I'll be happy to test things out under this  
configuration.

Thanks for the excellent driver! I'll pick a better card next time!
