Greetings all. I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to set up a MythTV box with a PVR-500MCE.
The ivtv module seems to load correctly, but doing a `cat /dev/video[0|1] > test.mpg` results in a picture full of snow - there is no partial image coming through, just snow. I'm currently running Ubuntu 6.10 (Edgy) with the 2.6.17-10-386 kernel. I've tried installing ivtv by following the How-Tos on these pages: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Install_IVTV_Edgy http://ivtvdriver.org/index.php/Howto The How-To from Ubuntu resulted in ivtv 0.7.0 being installed; installing from ivtvdriver.org's How-To resulted in 0.7.1 being installed. I'm currently using version 0.7.1. I have "basic" cable through my local cable company (i.e., I have the major networks). I receive the following stations if I plug my coaxial cable directly into my TV: KTCA - channel 2 WCCO - channel 4 KSTP - channel 5 KMSP - channel 9 KARE - channel 11 I've looked around online, and I've found many instances of this problem that were similar. None of the items I've found were able to get me a usable picture. Things I've tried: - modprobe ivtv tuner=50,50 (and various other numbers) - Use ivtv-tune to select different channels - Use different frequency listings (I've tried using "us-cable" and "us-cable-hrc") - Use an out-of-the-box solution such as KnoppMyth or Mythdora (I've tried both) - Using a 2.6.15 kernel and ivtv version 0.4.7 At this point, I'm out of ideas. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated.
