Hi folks,

I thought I'd throw my question out to the list. I've been lurking on
the list for some time (with occasional postings), but never mentioned
this issue:

I have a Hauppauge PVR-500 on a Fedora Core5 system. Pretty much from
the get go, I have stability issues. The card is in a server system
with a dual core AMD processor and lots of disks (in case it's relevant,
the system has a 3ware SATA RAID card).

In any case: my big problem is that my system locks up. I don't have
issues with DMA transfers (at least to the best of my knowledge). My
system just locks up. No ping responses, no video, nothing. If I reset
it, the system reboots and then runs until the next time the lockup occurs.

The lockups ONLY occur when IVTV is recording system (the lockups
occurred using MythTV 0.19 and MythTV 0.20). The lockups never occur at
other times. The system was 100% stable for many many months until I
installed the PVR-500 card. Then it became unstable (locking up), very
intermittently. Sometimes it happens after a few days (5-6 recordings a
day), sometimes it happens after a month. But it always happens.

Below is my IVTV stuff from /var/log/messages. I'm currently running
0.71 (with Myth 0.20), although the version appears to identify itself
as IVTV 0.70 in the logs.

I know that 8.1 is coming soon. I'll upgrade to a 2.6.18 kernel if
that's what it takes - no sweat! Frankly, I'll do whatever it takes to
get the system 100% stable again. Suggestions?

I thought I didn't have any CPU speed stuff, but it turns out that
service cpuspeed was running (sigh). I've disabled that and the system
still locks up. I don't believe I have power management stuff installed
(although I don't know tons about that stuff; is power management
installed by default with Fedora Core 5?).

Thanks in advance for any help ...
