        Yes, I'm trying to write the file with the root user, so
permissions should not be an issue, though I have also tried it with a
regular user (in their home directory) with the same results.
        
        I've also just tried "cat /dev/video0" without the file hoping
to see a bunch of binary code scroll across my screen, but instead,
nothing happens.

        Here is my dmesg output (plus ivtvctl -D 9 output when I try the

        All appears well, but still nothing when I cat /dev/video0
