So if everything appears to be configured/loaded ok, and it
still doesn't work, the card may be dead.

        I found an old harddrive, installed Windows and tried the
card... voila, NOTHING.  The card was dead, and has been returned.

        Thank you to all who helped, and to those developing these
drivers.  Keep up the good work!
