If this does not work report it with emerge > --info and the build error. I did a full recompile of the kernel (gentoo-source-2.6.18-r3) and ivtv (0.8.1) and both compile fine. The x11-drivers/xf86-video-ivtvdev is the one that generates above errors, may that's the reason it's hard-masked?
