According to the lirc faq, Hauppauge WinTV cards should be able to receive signals from any remote using the RC5 protocol. I know this was true of the old WinTV capture cards, I'm not certain if it is still true with the PVR cards. iirc it was also required to use signals that have a Philips vendor code in the preamble.
