Not to start a flame war, but for those of us who have email clients that 
can show threads, most of the context can be derived from previous messages. 
I, for one, don't care to scroll down through 3 pages of context (including  
dmesg dumps) just to get to the one-line response. That being said, it is 
considerend polite to follow what ever the particular list uses as a 
convention. It's not that I think that either way is the best, but there are 
reasons for someone to put his/her reponse at the top with any related 
information following (a most-recent-first flow).
