Hans, thank you for responding. I hope you can fix it. I want to be
the first to test your new code.

I had thought it would be OK to simply revert to ivtv-0.8.1, since
there is no clock disturbance with that version. However a recent yum
upgrade has installed kernel-2.6.20-1.2933.fc6 x86_64, and now
ivtv-0.8.1 won't compile. FWIW, ivtv-0.10.1 compiles perfectly, but
it still interferes with the system clock speed.

That advice may be correct, but it's too cryptic for me.
I suffer from AIS (Acronym Impairment Syndrome). :-)

I presume by VBI, you mean Vertical Blanking Interval, which is a
property of the video signal. During this portion of transmission,
the Closed Captioning signal is transmitted digitally, and there seems
to be code in ivtv and mythtv that captures that data.

I haven't found any means to "turn off VBI support", either as a
compilation option for mythtv, or as an option in any of the extensive
and bewildering configuration menus.

Can you please be a bit more explicit?
Thanks.
