It would be really useful to me (as Debian package maintainer) if you
could make a release which contained everything, including the main ivtv
driver, but only build ivtv.ko if the kernel release was < 2.6.22.

        endif
(there must be an easier way ;-))

It might be even better to build ivtv.ko if CONFIG_IVTV (whatever the
name in 2.6.22 will be) is unset or missing, then even people using
2.6.22+ could use your releases (for example if it has new feature not
yet available in kernel.org etc)... e.g.
        ifeq ($(CONFIG_IVTV),)
        obj-m += ivtv.o
        endif
