Hi Tony, thanks for the reply. Apparently my mce_150 has the cx25840 chip
and there is some bug with this and my kernel. I found this after a bit of
searching. So I guess I have to apply this diff patch, but I have no idea
how to do that. I'm trying to use mythTV and all I get is a blank screen.

from http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/6443

when i try to load the ivtv module everything seems fine until i try to
watch tv, i get a picture and no sound. dmesg shows 'fw_register_device:
device_register failed
cx25840 2-0044: unable to open firmware v4l-cx25840.fw' as tpb pointed out
in the forum, the readme states "NOTE: This driver will work with kernels
2.6.18, 2.6.19 and 2.6.20. For the
latter kernel you will need to apply the cx25840.diff patch that is in the
'misc' directory (only if your card has the cx2584x chip, it is not needed
otherwise). The 2.6.20 kernel caused a cx2584x bug to surface that prevents
loading of the cx2584x firmware."

Cheers

Brett

It doesn't look like anything wrong to me however I could be wrong. What
app are you trying to view with? I have the PVR-150 MCE flavor and
Kubuntu Feisty 64 with MythTV as the viewing app. Feisty has everything
included for this card with your Kernel version.

Ubuntu Forum Quote;
PVR-150/150MCE/250/250MCE - supported out of the box

I just installed MythTV according to the guide at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MythTV#head-5c90afbe1e30cc1b14ba2badb41a8b170f37b24e

Also view this link to add the IVTV repo to your sources to make sure
you have all the IVTV items.
