Recently, one of my PVR-350's have begun to randomly drop the audio from
recordings in MythTV. I have searched the archives and came across this
thread (http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/devel/36925) about
spontaneous muting. Unfortunately, this thread doesn't really solve my
problem. So far, I have recorded a bunch of shows during the day and at
night. Sometimes, the audio will mute on one tuner, and all subsequent
recordings on that tuner will also be muted. When I play the recording
which mutes the audio, the video will freeze when the audio is muted. I
have set options ivtv debug=255 in /etc/modprobe.conf and set MythTV's
backend verbose level to all and haven't noticed any strange entries in
/var/log/messages or /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log.

So far, I have noticed this on Fedora 8 kernels 2.6.23.8-63.fc8 and
2.6.23.9-85.fc8 and also with MythTV versions 0.20.2-169.fc8, 0.20.2-170.fc8and
0.20.2-171.fc8 from ATrpms. I have also switched the positioning of the
PRV-350's in my PC and the muting problem still occurred on the same card
making me believe it is most likely a hardware problem rather than a
software problem. I have not had a chance to test under Windows since I do
not own a Windows license.

If anybody has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. My next
idea is to send an email to Hauppauge and inquire about a RMA.

Thanks.
