For the record, my PVR350 also started to drop audio - it was fine after a reboot and would then start recording mute soon after. This got progressively worse over a week or so.
I took the box apart to re-seat the card and noticed that the two 10v 680uF electrolytic capacitors on the card had 'mushroomed'. I de-soldered these and replaced with high-temp (105C) 1000uF 16v caps from maplin and all is now well. Not a single audio drop-out since... The smoothing caps have a rated life of only 2000hrs at 105C. At the 40-50C inside my case, the caps lasted about 25000hrs during 3.5yrs use. If you try this, note that it's a bit fiddly as there's a very small surface mount cap to avoid near the legs of the electrolytic caps on the underside of the PCB. Cheers, Wilf.
