I have been fighting the Tinny Audio issue for a couple of years now.
I have a PVR500 with Phillips tuners, and I've tried the 1.0.x series
ivtv drivers, but I ultimately settled on 0.6.7.

I can say for sure that I experience the tinny audio without MythTV
being in the loop. If I capture directly from /dev/video0 to a file,
sometimes the file shows up with tinny audio, but most of the time it
works fine.

There was a workaround proposed on the this list some time ago, but
I've been too busy with other things to try it out. I'll see if I
can dig it up.

Regards,
Mike Ellis
