Maybe this was a newbie error...I tried to install the drivers for the card by going through the instructions on MythTV's pages as well as on ivtvdriver.org. Then someone on this list brought to my attention that the card should have been supported 'out of the box' with the new kernel....and it was. As soon as I removed the drivers that I had tried to install manually, the card was recognized...
