I have resolved the issue using a hauppauge pvr-150 and a simple script

#! /bin/bash
#tune it to my cable box channel 3
ivtv-tune -c 3 -d /dev/video0
#use v4l2ctl to redirect audio
v4l2-ctl --set-audio-input 0 -d /dev/video0 --set-audio-output /dev/audio
#now show the thing on player
mplayer -vo xv /dev/video0 -autosync 30

 Thank you,

Mark F. Kaufman

Subject: [ivtv-users] PVR-350

Pulling my hair out as this card was working a while back.
Recently installed latest MythBuntu (8.10 --Ibex, kernel 2.6.27-11)

Card is found, etc.
When doing cat /dev/video0 > test.mpg, the video is scrambled. i've seen
several posts around the net on this same issue, but never a resolution. (Not
sure if people just aren't getting back to the list or what).

Anyway, I'd really like to get this to work again :)
Here is the detection from dmesg:

The issue is the same as a few other have reported. Its recording video, but
looks as if your trying to watch a channel that you aren't paying for circa
1988. Sound is fine (can be choppy).

I've tried us-cable, us-cable-hrc, us-cable-irc with the best results coming
from us-cable. I've tried tweaking the frequency 1/10th at a time and
occasionally saw "better" results -- meaning not as scrambled, but still
scrambled.

What more does anyone need? I'd love to get this resolved...

Thanks,
Ryan
