I must be the luckiest SOB alive, my Hauppauge PVR-150 works flawlessly I use 
ivtv-tune utils and v4l2 along with vlc and the pvr option, the darn thing 
works better than the Hauppauge software and way  better than Windows Media 
Center, no assembly involved.

For the sake of comparison, try capturing using Windows and Hauppauge WinTV 
software. WinTV is a free download from Hauppauge.
