So it's immediately obvious that something is different about the audio.
 I don't yet see a v4l2-ctl option to un-mute the audio, but I don't
think that's really the problem.  I would expect muting to be an output
function, and at any rate the audio standard should have been correctly
detected.

Getting something into the svideo/audio inputs will take a little more
round-tuit work that I've been meaning to do for a long time.  This may
constitute extra incentive.
