femon seems to show a weaker signal at that 117000000 MHz, but using
mplayer to tune i get a--could not set channel error. curiously the
channel number is wrong, 50 instead of 99?

femon:

using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0'
FE: Samsung S5H1409 QAM/8VSB Frontend (TERRESTRIAL)

mplayer dvb:

Playing dvb://ABC.
dvb_tune Freq: 117000000
Not able to lock to the signal on the given frequency, timeout: 30
dvb_tune, TUNING FAILED
ERROR, COULDN'T SET CHANNEL 50: Failed to open dvb://ABC.

any suggestions for further debugging greatly appreciated, thanks.
