It's easy to get frustrated, I agree. We're all guilty of it, it's
just human nature. I don't think it's something specific to Linux, in
fact most people are very willing to help.

Regarding the msp3400 module, you may need to give it some options.
Try adding this line to modprobe.conf:
options msp3400 once=1 simple=1
