Haines, All I can suggest is also installing Oracle's version 8 JDK. I have another java application that requires Java version 8 and there are apparently some subtle differences between the Oracle and openjdk versions. Both versions coexist on Slackware so I assume they'll also coexist on other distributions. If that's not the solution then I'm out of ideas.
