Hi guys,

Can you have a look at this mail I've prepared to announce the first release
in jallist ? I plan to create the 0.1beta branches, build and upload
packages tonight. And eventually posting this mail, as the official release
starting point :)

Hi all,

We are proud to announce the very first beta release of Jallib. The Jallib
project (http://code.google.com/p/jallib/) holds a set of jal libraries,
compatible with jalv2 compiler. The aim of this project is to centralize all
the libraries people are writing here and there, provides standards to write
jal code, helping to share code.

You can download the packages here:

    http://code.google.com/p/jallib/downloads/list

There are two main packages:

  * jallib-0.1beta contains device files, libraries, and samples which have
been tested. This means more than 70 PICs, 17 libraries (usart, i2c, pwm,
adc, data eeprom, lcd, print, format, delay, ...) and over 85 samples to
help you getting started with jallib.

   * jallib-all_devices-0.1beta contains all the available devices (for 294
PICs), and for each, a blink-a-led sample, ready-to-compile. Some have been
tested, some haven't yet. If you're favorite PIC cannot be found in the
first package, you should give a try using one of these. And please report
the results to jallib's group, so we can increase the number of tested chip
!

We tried to keep existing and mostly used libraries as much as possible.
Some haven't changed, some have been refactored, some still need to be
integrated. Remember, whatever the library in jallib, there's always a small
sample, showing a basic usage of it. This is a very convenient way to get
started. You'll also have HTML documentation for each library, with links to
the several available samples.

We tried to test as much as possible, and currently working hard to provide
more on these tests. This beta release is... beta... so there might be bugs
:) Help us improving jallib, and report any bugs, suggestions, feeback, even
libraries etc... either on this list, in our issue tracker (
http://code.google.com/p/jallib/issues/list) or in jallib's group (
http://groups.google.com/group/jallib). We're also looking for testers, who
could help to perform tests on several different PICs. And, if you dare to
put your head over the mowing field, and if you're ready to embrace the
Jallib Style Guide, join us as an official jallib comitters !

Finally, we really would like to thank here Stef Mientki and Wouter van
Ooijen, who allow us to use and integrate their own libraries. And... of
course, Kyle York, because nothing of this is useful without a great
compiler.

Thanks & Have fun !

The Jallib team.
