You all got this all wrong Mplab is a ide only. Like jaledit but better then
just a editor

You using Mpasm devcie file

With Mplab there will still be Mpasm are what ever you want C18 C30 h-tech
on and on
are you lost here?

The device files your looking at are Mpasm there still going to be a Mpasm

Mplab is a editor  with plugins  Your loved device files are one of them and
will still be there
if you install Mpasm.
