Dear Eike,

I can confirm that Jalview does work on OS X 10.10. I used the install anywhere
version
http://www.jalview.org/Web_Installers/install.htm

On OS X 10.10 you can only use Java from Oracle (ex. Sun) and currently
supported versions are 1.7 (Java7) or 1.8 (java8). I have java 7 here.
Cheers,

Chris

Hello Jalview-folks,

I am new to this mailing list so I hope my question is not inappropriate.

I recently updated to OS X 10.10 and wanted to run the latest Jalview on it,
which as you can imagine does not work.

Installation reported several (serious) errors but I could not locate a log
file to identify what went wrong exactly.

Where do I find a log file on the installation process to have a better idea
what could have gone wrong?

I have tried both Java from Apple as well as from Sun.

Which is the recommended Java version / distribution ?

With best regards

Eike
