My response was really to your comment that "Some of the Open Relay checkers
will initially flag a James server as an open relay since thjey can connect
..."  I am not aware of any major Open Relay checker that ever flags a
properly configured James server as an Open Relay.  If you are aware of some
that do, please let me know.

As I said, none of the ones registered with http://www.openrbl.org do so.
What can happen, and I found an entry today for someone else's server, is
that you can find yourself on a netblock where the entire block has been
blacklisted.  This is a tactic used by extremists to cause pain to customers
as the means of gaining leverage over the ISPs.
