I've heard of this `--undefined' flag before. Is it already supported
in BeOS? If it is, we could add support for incomplete shared
libraries on BeOS to libtool.

You can if the library is completely self-contained, and you link it
with -no-undefined. This flag tells libtool to build a shared library
even if the platform doesn't support incomplete libraries; it's a
promise to libtool that the library is complete.
