Hi Paulo !

You were right, the JVM was crashing all the time, that is why of course 
there was nothing listening on port 8007. I am now sure that the entry in 
the services file is not necessary because I did a second setup on a Win98 
machine and it works there without that entry. However, what seems to be 
curcial is the CLASSPATH environment variable in AUTOEXEC.BAT.  It seems 
that it's necessary to be set to the same values as in the .conf files.
