If we're looking for alternate peer GUI toolkits...

Why not Tk?  It works well, availability and licensing terms are great,
and it doesn't suffer from outrageous bloat.  The Tcl/Tk crowd spun
off from Sun this year and is now doing business at www.scriptics.com .
