RC1 was a release that did not last long - right after the release some
people noticed a major problem with swing on 24 and 32 bit X displays.
RC2 has that problem fixed.

(It was a last minute fix that broke it and we did not notice it until after
the release of RC1)

There is no need to try RC1 if you RC2 - they are otherwise the same.
