Blackdown will be as involved as it wants to be. To an observer over the
past year, it's been hard to conclude that Blackdown wants to be in this
business: no schedule information, no JPDA implementation, and huge
roadblocks (I gather from other posts) to volunteers who wish to join.
When 1.2.2 showed up a few weeks ago, it was a complete surprise to
everyone, including a company that had tried to engage Blackdown in a
1.2.2 joint development effort.
Blackdown will continue to be a leader only if it shows a willingness to
lead. Yes, it's hard... everyone has day jobs, etc., etc. But you don't
get to lead unless you act like a leader. Blackdown can choose to remain
relevant or not. It's not up to Sun or Inprise, it's up to Blackdown.
