Aren't we forgetting something in this discussion? Average PC has 64M, you want to write an application that runs on this PC, your dev environment (JBuilder or whatever) has, in addition to the application, a compiler, the IDE, a debugger... ...your development environment is probably going to need more than 64m. This would be as true of a C/C++ ide.
