But for those of us who check our email in the evening through a dial-up
connection which we have to *pay for* it is a little irksome to have to
be on the phone for 5-10 minutes waiting for huge binary attachments to
download...

Binaries newsgroup? Asking people to email privately if they would like
to receive a copy of the graphic?
In any case, there are 1,000,001 free ISPs out there with oodles of
webspace so there is really no excuse for not having *somewhere* to put
files for download.

But it will almost always be the minority of the people on a mailing
list who are interested in a very specific query...
