[JAVA2D] To extract DPI from an image

Hi, I have to extract the information regarding the DPI(dots per inch) from an image. But all the methods in BufferedImage, Raster etc. return the height / width in pixels. Request if anybody knows the method to extract dimensions in mm or inch, so that DPI of the image can be calculated. Thanks in advance.
