Well I would say it wise to implement all as long as DX supports also all.
Otherwise you will run into problems

Hmm it's a pitty. I think they closed down the 1.3 changes too fast, there
are a lot of Core-OpenGL1.3 things which are still not in J3D1.3 which is
a pitty as I really could need them from time to time. (I know there is
always the issue with DirectX) So sometimes I have to think if it isn't
wise to move to OpenSceneGraph (which is a pitty as I really like to code
in JAVA a lot more than in C/C++)
