Hi Desiree, based on my experience ( and so not objective/scientifically
tested):

My own app: real time fleet monitoringviewed in 2D with 3d option

Probably not this much if you use Java3D properly

Definitively

Wish I knew, Java3D team refuses to get involved in this matter -> it is
costing us dear...:
we bought
Viper card -> good/average on some boxes, unable to work with any of our HP
box..do not know why
Elsa: Erasor->average, working ok
During my last trip to the US, we have tested it with amazing perf with one
of the latest card available on the market there..sadly, I do not remember
the name!!!! I will try to get it ASAP and mail it here
That's the card we use on our test machine there
All tested cards were game cards in the 200-400 US $ range
My tests were just testing my app

> hardware accelaerator (it's a Permedia 2) ?
What about testing without your card (removing it physically from your box)

All my tests above were for windowed hardware acceleration, so it is
definitively possible

You need plenty of memory to have an efficient Java3D app=> I need at leasst
120Meg...but I have heaps of overlay non related to the graphics: comms
layer, corba, etc
>- When I change my way of programming in point to performance do you think

1000

YES: I display a 3D line contour, mobile vrml trucks(a dozen) and hundreds
of roads. areas, static vrml items with no problem on 500mhz+ boxes
>Please, answer some of my questions I really need your expierence with

Hope it helps
