Are there any programs/utilities, that allow graphical manipulation of
Java3d objects in a bean-like fashion? If there aren't, then is anyone
working on one or know of one? Sun, do any plans exist to incorporate
Java3d and bean technology?
The main reason I ask is that I recently saw a Windows product called 3dLinX
that is based on COM and ActiveX, and built on top of OpenGL. The beauty of
it was that is allowed the user to drag and drop 3d components into a
virtual world and create a complete 3d application with literally no code.
Each 3d object could have behaviors associated with it so that physics,
collisions, and response to input was built in. Developers can create
components and behaviors indepedent of each other, or couple them together,
and then distribute them for use by others. It truly enables 3d for the
masses, unfortunately just the Windows masses.
Similar tools for Java3d could truly help it explode. I'd love to create
them myself, but I currently don't have to resources or skills. However, if
anyone out there is working on such technology or tools, I'd love to check
them out and provide input. Heck, I could even comment your code :)
Sincerely,
Tobin Ehlis
