An accelerated Java3D course would be great. I think that some good base
knowledge of Java and 3D graphics (transforms, projection models, etc)
should be assumed, otherwise the rest of accelerated stuff would be hard to
understand anyway. (For those who are not familiar, perhaps an intro to 3D
graphics whitepaper for students to read before they come to class...)
I would like to see course material contain optimization techniques, use of
input devices, behaviors, lighting, fog, texture mapping. A good set of
example code to take home would be invaluable.
As far as modeling is concerned, perhaps an excercise in assigning behaviors
to specific nodes in a model. Also, modeling techniques for frame rate
optimization.
I for one would like to be kept up-to-date on your plans...

We here at Full Sail are examining the public interest in teaching a
accelerated Java3D course. This course would be a specialized one or
two day course, taught here at the Full Sail campus in Winter Park,
Florida. We expect the course to include in depth exposure to the
Java3D API, as well as programming examples in our Visualize lab. Each
student would receive course materials, as well as access to individual
3D graphics workstations.
We are just beginning to form the curriculum and are interested in what
you would like to learn and/or what would be of most value to you. For
example, should the course focus solely on the Java3D API? Should a
working knowledge of 3D graphics be required. Would some 3D modeling be
useful? Etc.
