I just happen to have a couple of the J3D developers sitting next to meATM.
Thier answer is that it can be done, but would take a lot of effort.

The general approach suggested is to have 4 canvas with 4 *separate*
universes and then share the geometry between the universes. Then, in each
universe, put separate RenderingAttributes with the appropriate line/edge
flags. It is not trivial to do.


An alternate approach is to go into a mixed mode rendering too. Even more work.
