John,
Wow, I guess I'm talking to the right man! I found your website with your
Inspector3DS/Loader3DS 2.00 product at:
http://mail.starfireresearch.com/services/java3d/inspector3ds.html
Your effort with the Java 3D Community MMORPG Project at
http://mail.starfireresearch.com/services/java3d/mmorpg/mmorpg.html also
looks very interesting. Still looking for developers?
The most recent specs on Caligari's COB format can be found at:
http://www.caligari.com/products/tsx/tsx_dev98.htm#SDK
It looks like there are different ones depending on the version of
trueSpace. I have 4.3, the most recent release is 5.0.
Thanks for your offer to support Inspector3DS/Loader3DS. Since trueSpace
can save to this format, I'll definitely give that a shot. I am glad that
there is something more recent *and supported* out there for me to use with
trueSpace! Once I have some success with it (shouldn't take me that long),
I'll definitely send my donation of $20 (I know you are only asking $10 but
to me it's worth it!).

Sergei,
All you should need is documentation for the COB format. The only
source I have right now is "3D Graphics File Formats" by Keith Rule.
Since COB files could be an any of a variety of forms you'd need to test
which format you were reading and read it appropriately.
What I would recommend though would be to just export to 3DS and use the
3DS loader that we've written. You can ask a few of the others, but in
my opinion I provide good support for it. Currently I'm developing a
"pro" version.
