Roy,

Lee Dixon and myself have been working with Kelvin on an intermittent
crash bug (#4433354).  Sun is investigating it and indicates it'll be
fixed for the next version of Java 3D (a serious concern for us as we
need to go commerical with our product and can't wait nine months to one
year for a fix).  Sun believes this is a bug in "sound".  Lee and I are
not 100% convinced it's sound (possible theory is that it's something to
do with heavy thread usage).
