Hi,
The first thing I tried was messing around with different resolutions and
palette sizes - all to no avail. I shall try to do something with the video
drivers, but it is the client's machine and access may be restricted.

Make sure your video drivers are up-to-date. Try different
color palette sizes (65k, 16m, true color).
NT4 is our preferred platform. All problems we've encountered
on a machine level have been with bad video drivers.
